Cheering with Purpose

By Mason Southard

Gina Orzechowski, cheer captain, is ready to have a successful cheer season and become a close group with the new members on the team. Orzechowski is ready to help out and brace her new team members for rough times, but to always keep pushing, no matter how good the opponent team is. As the role of team captain, Orsechowski loves it because she says she is able to help others with proper form and technique, but more so herself with her leadership skills.

Showing these leadership skills, Orzechowski prevents any team conflict among each other by having everyone do team activities and to get along with the new members.

Orzechowski also encourages all the members to include everyone.

“If you are just hanging out with your friends in a group and not including people this will make these newer members feel left out and have a toll on the way they think of themselves as an individual.” Said Orzechowski

If the cheer team faced a tough loss, Gina is sure to tell her team that they tried their hardest, and “ If they had fun, that’s all that matters.”

“If I were to change something that I have done in the past in this sport it would be attitude.” Gina Orzechowski is an excellent captain because of her outstanding leadership skills. When  asked about the greatest challenge Gina referred to coming together as a team.

“ Coming together as a team is always difficult for any team. We all needed to understand each other and become friends with everyone.” said Orzechowski

To help with coming together Orzechowski made sure everyone feels included and has good spirits to improve the team’s strength. With proper motivation Orzechowski believes that she can lead the team to great success by preparing her team for things to get rough.

“ Being prepared for any possible situation is beyond important,” said Orzechowski.
To be prepared for unexpected tricks Orzechowski encourages her teammates to try new things to show they may be great at the stunt and grow their bravery.

Loving the role of captain, Gina is very eager to be able to help her new teammates and especially being a great role model to the new athletes.
