Artez Brings the Spirit

Enjoying the role of cheerleading team captain, Ava Artez is there to guide the team to victory. Ensuring there is team composure, Ava will have the team work out in group activities to build team chemistry.

“Since we’re cheerleaders, it’s more of a team sport; you can’t be friends with each other,” said Artez.

Using tough love to motivate the team, Artez believes she and the other captains can lead the team to great success.

Facing many challenges, Ava helps prevent injuries by team stretches and taking new stunts carefully. “Proper technique is always important to stay away from injuries.” Said Artez

After tough losses, Artez will encourage everyone to try hard in practice and leave all the pressure there so there’s none while performing: “It pushes us further to do our best.” Including all team members, Artez will speak with the other captains about team cooperation activities. Influencing the team to try different and exciting stunts builds up bravery. When asked about the team’s biggest challenge, Artez refers to when she came to practice and saw new coaches.

“That was a major setback for the team,” said Artez. “We all felt we had to step up our game to impress the new coaches.”

With great sportsmanship, Artez loves the role of team captain, saying she can help others and even work on leadership skills. Every day after school, with lots of motivation, Artez goes to practice with a smile on her face, ready to help out the new members and coaches.
