“Lights, Camera, and Smile”. These were the lyrics heard around the world when superstar Taylor Swift released her previous album- The Tortured Poets Department on April 19, 2025 while in the middle of her Eras Tour. Now living up to the showgirl name, Swift is releasing her newest album: The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3rd 2025.
After wrapping up her record breaking Taylor Swift the Eras Tour on December 8th, 2024, Swifties around the world had been hoping for something new. Whether it was clowning for a new “Taylor’s Version” album rerecord which Swift had released two during her time on the road: Speak Now (July 7, 2023) and 1989 (October 27, 2023) , or waiting for any snippets of her and her new fiance Travis Kelce, who popped the question and made it public in August 2025; all superfans were on the edge of their seats.
Announcing the album on Kelce’s podcast: “New Heights”, the Swifties were ecstatic.
“As a “New Heights” fan myself, when I saw the orange and gold glitter on the advertisement, I knew something was coming,” said avid Swift fan Daniela Santos. “I have been apart of Swift’s fanbase since Debut (released in 2006) and my first concert where Justin Bieber opened for her on the Fearless tour” (Bieber had been an opener on her tour on select dates in 2009)
Swift has always been a performer, putting on six different headlining tours in the span of her career. This album is supposed to be a glimpse behind the curtain into “The Life of a Showgirl”.
This new album has a pop and light hearted vibe, much different than her previous album releases. The tracklist of this album is as follows:
-The Fate of Opheilia
-Elizabeth Taylor
-Opalite
-Father Figure
-Eldest Daughter
-Ruin the Friendship
-Actually Romantic
-Wi$h Li$t
-Wood
-CANCELLED!
-Honey
-The Life of a Showgirl (featuring Sabrina Carpenter)
Since the album hit the charts on October 3, 2025, all 12 of the songs have overtaken the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. Many Swifties have been loving the new album.
“I was like we have a new album,” said Vicki Delucia. “I was just so excited to hear it.” But some of the people listening to the album had mixed feelings about what Swift had produced along with producers Max Martin and Shellback. Both producers had previously collaborated with Swift on Red (2012), 1989 (2014), and Reputation (2017).
Sabrina Carpenter, the American singer, songwriter, and actress who rose to fame on Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World and achieved massive pop success with hit singles like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” led listeners to think that she influenced Swift’s writing style.
“I am not a fan that the album is kind of raunchy,” stated fan Ella Iannone. “I like her old music more and I feel since she collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter it sounds more like her writing style.”
Even amid the backlash, Swift is still thriving by doing interviews on radio shows and television. I guess you could say that she is living her best life as a showgirl.
