Throughout the years, swimming from the early ages of six has turned into competing in indoor track for senior captain Eva Lynn.
“It’s hard going from a long day of school to two hours of practice every day, so it’s important that I have my morale, so that the whole team feels supported,” said Lynn.
For Lynn, it’s not just showing up to practice like it’s a chore; it’s about having fun and making sure her teammates feel the same way.
During Lynn’s freshman year, she had already swam in the fall, but she really wanted to participate in something else and turns out this opportunity turned Lynn into a three season athlete.
“I don’t play basketball, and I don’t play tennis, so I decided let’s just run, and it just ended up working for me,” said Lynn
For Lynn, one of her greatest memories isn’t just a big championship win; it’s seeing all of her teammates put in so much work, reaching their goals, and setting personal records.
“Everyone just coming together on the track, doing what they need to do, and achieving their common goal, is my favorite memory,” said Lynn
Lynn has taken this sport into perspective, and realized that it has not only taught her how to be a supporting teammate, it taught her how to be patient, humble, and determined, and how she can just brush off a bad meet and keep her head up.
“This sport has taught me to push through and overcome a lot, you need to be able to forget about a bad race and keep your head up, but a lot of people can’t do that,” said Lynn “You just need to trust the process.”
