Weekend Festivities

Prospect and Beacon Falls, two small and isolated towns surrounded by nothing but pure nature. When school breaks for the weekend, students may often think to themselves what they’re going to be doing. It’s a simple question, but the solution is a lot harder to find than what it seems. Students can struggle to find something to do because of how far a place may be, scarcity of money, or if their friends are busy. However, everyone has their own idea of what the perfect weekend would consist of.

Evan Ministro, a student and an employee at Marshalls, likes a variety of different things to do over the weekend. When Ministro isn’t working at Marshalls he likes to spend his time shooting the basketball around in his driveway, or playing Xbox. Some games he likes to play are Minecraft and Red Dead Redemption.

According to Ministro, taking some time to himself isn’t always the worst thing in the world.

“ I could go either way. I do like to go out with my friends, but there are also times when I prefer to be alone.”

When Ministro does go out with his friends, he has some preferable spots to go to. Going out to Buffalo Wild Wings and Dunkin’ never fails. Socializing with friends can create memorable times and tons of laughs. When asked about ever doing school work on the weekend, Ministro responded with a sharp “No.”

Efe Tatar, Senior at Woodland, has his own hobbies to do on weekends. He likes to eat exotic foods like Octopus, Rabbit, Monk fish, and Alligator. Food aside, Tatar likes to travel on the weekend with friends, sometimes even going solo. He likes going out and finding new people and exploring the scenic city.

“ In New York I like to try new foods, walk around, make new friends, and I like to shop there because there’s a lot of things I can’t usually get in Connecticut like designer clothes for cheap.”

No matter what you decide to do, the weekend presents an opportunity to unwind and relax after a long week of school. Whether you’re shooting hoops in your driveway, gaming with your friends, or exploring new cities; you are destined to have a good time. While the towns of Prospect and Beacon Falls aren’t that appealing to the eye, Ministro and Tatar are prime examples that the best weekends are more about the people you’re with. At the end of the day, it’s about finding things that bring happiness.
