Woodland Regional High School’s indoor track team delivered an impressive performance at the NVL Championship, with the girls’ team placing 3rd overall and the boys’ team securing 5th place. The Hawks showcased resilience, determination, and personal growth as multiple athletes set personal records and secured podium finishes.
Leading the charge was Faye Carnemolla, who excelled in both the 1000m and 1600m, proving to be one of the team’s best mid-distance runners. Her endurance paid off as she fought through a competitive field to earn a 1st place medal in both events.
Long-distance standout Leah Zainc delivered an outstanding performance in the 3200m, earning a well-earned 2nd-place finish. On the boys’ side, Gabe Diamante matched that effort with a 2nd-place finish in the 3200m, displaying fantastic pacing.
Another strong showing came from Trevor Genthe, who earned 3rd place in the 1000m. He pushed through the final lap with an impressive kick to secure a podium spot. His performance added valuable points to the team’s total, helping the Hawks’ standing.
Beyond the top finishers, several Woodland athletes achieved personal records, marking a night of growth and achievement for the program. The championship was not only a test of speed and endurance but also a test of the dedication and training put in throughout the season.
As the indoor track season nears its conclusion, the Hawks look ahead with excitement, knowing that these performances set a strong foundation for future competition in the outdoor track season. The Hawks continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with in the NVL.
