Refresh and Reboot

After nailing the look and crushing the dance floor, you’re paying the price in serious fatigue. The instinct is to spend Saturday exclusively on the couch, but when the Thanksgiving rush is around the corner and deadlines loom, a full-day crash isn’t an option. This guide offers the ultimate post-Homecoming refresh, blending self-care with smart, productive moves to conquer the day.

The first quest is right after the dance. While you may be fighting the urge to go straight to sleep after dancing in heels all night, hygiene is essential and the first stop on the road to recovery.

Removing makeup is a key part of making sure you and your skin are refreshed the next day. According to Everyday Health, nighttime is when our skin recovers. If you have makeup on your skin cannot breathe and this could cause a breakout. Be sure to take an extra few minutes to wash the makeup off your face, and you are already setting yourself up for success the next day.

“I just use soap and water to clean my face of makeup,” said senior Clara Sweetland.

Something just as simple as regular soap and water will allow your face to be clean and your skin to breathe.

The next task is to make sure you get a good night’s sleep so that you are ready to tackle whatever the next day may bring you because whether it is homework, Thanksgiving prep, or going out, your body needs to be well rested.

Senior Emma DeGeorge’s post-homecoming routine includes getting in a comfy outfit and getting some food to reboot her system.

“I love to get McDonalds and get into comfy sweatpants in order to fully relax my body,” DeGeorge explains.

Studies show that seven to nine hours of sleep is key for the body to function and have a productive day. When you awake from your beauty sleep it is also important that you get a good breakfast in the morning to get you ready for the day.

“I usually drink a lot of caffeine the morning after homecoming,” said Sweetland. “It helps me stay awake and energized for the day to come.”

Now your body is ready to tackle the day ahead of it, you’ve gotten a good night’s sleep, taken care of your hygiene and fueled your body properly.

You are ready to conquer whatever the day may throw at you and you’ve done it all with just a few simple steps that leave you not wasting the day away.

It is important to remember that recovery is important in any aspect of your life, not just after dancing, it will assist you in being productive and in accomplishing your tasks even after a long night.
