Legally Blonde a Review

Snaps everyone! Elle Woods has taken on a new case: a fun and electric time with Woodland’s Halo Award winning Drama Department. As the drama department underwent changes this year, one thing was for certain- the talent of the cast was unwavering.

With rookies and returners alike, the determination through the entire production process was clearly shown during opening night. From set designs by Patrick Rogers, Jacob Savoy, and Jamie Misuraca, audience members truly thought they were at Harvard Law with Elle, at UCLA with the Delta Nu’s, and even in the courtroom with the interns. Thanks to the guidance of director Jillian Jackman, the second musical produced by her has more raving reviews than the previous shows that she has worked on.

Thanks to last year’s production of Guys and Dolls, Woodland has already seen the talent showcased in the drama department. Casey Mulvihill returned to star as the iconic Elle Woods, and the performance was spectacular. Vocals, dancing and acting skills were truly evident in this role that Mulvihill had taken on. One instance during So Much Better really showed Mulvihill’s range and theatrical abilities.

With theatre newcomer Nicholas Saverese (Warner) and returner Micheala Darrah (Vivienne), their roles were executed perfectly. Saverese’s vocals as a newcomer was jaw dropping, catching the audience in awe of his character. While Darrah’s chemistry with Mulvihill during the “frenemies” stage of the characters showed the talent the actors have.  All of the chemistry on stage between each of the cast members was undeniable. Audience members could really tell how hard this cast worked on the show.

Ensemble members really brought the show to life with their energy and skills to bring the audience into the scene. Isabella Peralta executed the role of Paulette with charm and expertise, demonstrating how if you work hard enough you can get what you want (since she finally got her beloved dog back). The canine cast of Miss Pip (Bruiser) and Benjamin Junior Jackman (Rufus), really brought personality to the cast and crew. Their cameos in the production added whimsy and cuteness to the production.

All in all, the production has brought raving reviews in the weeks that followed, making it one of the most talked about productions after their opening night on April 25th, 2025. Woodland will be returning to Halo Awards on May 30th, 2025
