They say “Cash is king” and, for the past 25 years, that certainly has been true, especially when buying tickets for any Woodland sporting event. But that’s all about to change.
This year, in an attempt to update and stay up to date with current financial trends, Woodland’s Athletic department is moving to an electronic platform, GoFan, for ticketing and sales primarily for the E-pay crowd who never seems to have cash on them.
“We’re not switching. We’re adding it as an option. So we’re still accepting cash for people who want to pay cash for admission, and then we also have the digital tickets as an option. So it really just comes down to what is more convenient for a spectator, for a family member, you know we’re not completely switching over. We’re implementing this as an additional option,” said Christopher Dailey, Woodland Athletic Director.
For fans who prefer paying ahead, purchasing tickets on GoFan allows them to bypass the cash line at the gate.
“I mean it’s a person-by-person preference. Some people just like carrying cash and others don’t. But everyone has their phone with them so it’s convenient for them. But it all comes down to the person,” said Dailey.
But just like any online payment service there are fees,
“There is an additional fee, and I understand that could dissuade people from wanting to purchase from GoFan. It’s because GoFan is a second party company that we are using for this service, so every ticket that is purchased there is a $1 additional fee. The fee doesn’t go to us; it goes to GoFan,” said Dailey.
Just like any online service provider, there are rules and regulations about refundable tickets.
“No, there are no refunds once the buyer purchases the tickets. It’s run through GoFan so the transactions have already been processed,” said Dailey.
For parents who support their children at every game, GoFan offers an option to avoid buying tickets every single time. GoFan has a system to help relieve the hassle of remembering purchasing tickets.
“We do offer season passes for Football, Volleyball, and Basketball. For parents who come to every single game I would encourage them to get a season pass because it’ll save them money, ” said Dailey.
