Senior Photos

Senior photos are something many seniors take at the beginning of the year. These pictures not only mark the start of their final year; they mark the biggest turning point of all their high school years.

When we hear the words “senior photos,” we might think they are just some pictures being taken. But we really don’t know the true meaning behind them and what they really mean to the person being photographed.

“I feel like my photos do capture the real me, because I am surrounded by everything I love, and I feel like my photos give off a calm vibe which I think matches my personality,”said senior Brielle Philbrick. “I really loved the final outcome.”

Many photos have subtle details in their pictures that may seem little to the person viewing the photo, but they mean so much more to the person inside the photograph. For senior Ayla DeCrescenzo, “the photos with my letterman jacket were nonnegotiable because I’m not the most girly girl; so when I was all dressed I figured why not bring a little bit of my athletic background and my true self into the photos.”

Everyone knows that senior photos are very sentimental. Usually when those pictures are shown to a parent of the senior, they tear up or say “where has the time gone?”.But many people don’t realize that the photos have an effect on the seniors being photographed. “I get sad looking at the pictures and thinking that this is my last year of high school,” said senior Avery Deitelbaum. “I think of all of the memories I have made with my friends but it also makes me proud to see how far I’ve come and what I’m like as a person now.”

For many seniors, these pictures show how much they’ve changed throughout the years, like for senior Charlotte Bandanza. “I think my freshman self would be excited for me, making it through high school. My freshman self would say that I look more confident and happier.”
