What started with a little girl kicking a soccer ball around at early morning practices led her into a lifelong passion, and she is now committed to UMass Boston where she can continue to do what she loves best.
“I love soccer because I like being good at something, and it brings me joy to be with all my friends playing the sport I love,” said Celotto. “It makes me happy, excited, and gives me something to look forward to.”
Earning All-NVL 2nd team sophomore year and All-NVL 1st team junior year, Senior Captain Giuliana Celotto dedicates lots of her time to soccer.
Attending numerous practices, out of state games, and tournaments in order to get her to where she is now, captain of the 2026 Woodland Hawks Girls Soccer team for the second year in a row.
“Being a captain to me means more than people think. I constantly push my teammates and motivate them to work hard no matter what and continue working. Being named captain is very important because I personally work very hard myself and put my all into this team and winning, like I have my whole life,” said Celotto.
Since a young kid, Celotto has been playing soccer. Throughout the years, she has always been someone who leads and encourages everyone on the team to do their best.
“You have to work hard no matter what and keep trying and pushing yourself to get better,” said Celotto.
At every practice Celotto always sets a good example. She gives 100% effort, and she never struggles to help a teammate who needs it, like Emma Ross.
“You can definitely go to her if you ever need something,” said Ross.
Not only is Celotto a role model on the field, but is also one off the field. While balancing schoolwork, a job and her sport, Celotto is always someone to count on, and will be there when you need her. Morgan Howley appreciates that quality.
“She is not only a very funny and friendly person to be friends with but equally a great leader on the field,” said Howley.
Celotto sets a good example with her positive attitude, and many of her teammates look up to her.
“She helps everyone focus and stay on track,” said Ross.
“She is helpful in giving us feedback on what we can do better to improve our performance,” adds Howley. “Overall, I would say she is a very good person, leader, and teammate.”
