Instead of the usual parade of hoodies, backpacks, and half-asleep students hustling to first period, Woodland Regional is about to look a little more like a giant sleepover. On December 12, the school is taking part in the statewide PJ Day for the Kids — a chance to wear your comfiest pajamas to class and support children battling cancer.
This is Region 16’s fourth year joining the event, and each year the energy grows. Students and staff donate at least one dollar (though many give more) to participate, with all money going directly to Connecticut Children’s to help kids facing cancer receive treatment, support, and care.
The best part? There’s no complicated sign-up, no fancy outfits, and no early-morning stress. You roll out of bed, keep the PJs on, and show up knowing you’re helping make a difference. From plaid pajama pants to fuzzy slippers to matching sets with friends, the hallways are expected to turn into a showcase of everyone’s comfiest fits.
For many students, the day is both fun and meaningful — a reminder that something as simple as wearing pajamas can help bring hope to kids going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. With teachers joining in too, the building becomes a mix of school spirit, community support, and cozy vibes all day long.
If you’re looking to learn more about the statewide movement or see how far the fundraiser reaches, details can be found on Connecticut Children’s official PJ Day campaign page. But for Woodland, December 12 is all about showing up comfy, donating what you can, and proving that even small acts of kindness — and soft flannel pants — can go a long way.
