As the end of the school year is coming so quickly, the Class of 2026 is having one of their most memorable, and bittersweet times. While having fun with events like prom, senior trip, senior skip day, decision day, and senior sunset, everyone knows how close they are to the final step: graduation.
“Four years really does go by fast; I feel like I was just a freshman. It’s such a bittersweet feeling,” said Kiara Candelario. For seniors, every event suddenly carries more weight than it has before. The last home game, the last time walking in the hallway with friends, or last first day of school.
It’s a strange feeling: so much excitement as seniors are in the middle of planning prom, and getting ready for senior trip, but at the same time, counting down the days till the one you never thought would come so quickly.
“I’m so excited for everything upcoming, but I know graduation is going to be really hard,” said Madison Connan.
Even though graduation brings many emotions, students are still looking forward to life after high school and are ready for what’s to come. Emily Moore perfectly summed up the exciting part of graduation: “I am excited to go to college for a new chapter and have more independence.”
A fourteen-year journey, coming to an end. Starting with pre-k all the way to senior year, telling the same classmate “we have to stay in touch” that you asked in first grade if they wanted to be your friend. Going from backpacks with your favorite cartoon, to now trying on your cap and gown.
Walking across the stage will give you a feeling you can’t prepare for. Leaving the place that you once were afraid to come to. It’s not going to just be a simple walk to get your diploma; it’s much more than that. Every step you’re reminded of how you got to where you are. Friends and family who cheered you on, everyone there who supported you throughout your journey, and everyone you met along the way.
