After months of cold temperatures, snow, and gray skies, the recent stretch of warm weather has brought a noticeable shift in mood here at Woodland Regional. With temperatures reaching the high 60s and mid-70s throughout the week, many students say the sunshine and warmth have made school days feel a little lighter.
Students have been spending more time outside during free periods and after school, enjoying a break from the long winter that kept many people indoors.
For some seniors, the warm weather serves as a reminder that the school year is drawing to a close. Senior Emily Moore said the change in season has lifted her spirits. “The weather makes me feel alive again because it feels like summer, and that means school is out soon,” Moore said.
Others say the warmth simply makes them want to be outside more after months of snow and cold. “The weather makes me want to get outside more because we’ve been stuck inside for so long with snow,” said senior Clara Sweetland.
Even small changes, like sunshine during the school day or warmer afternoons, seem to have an impact on how students feel. Senior Rebekkah Lawton summed up the mood change simply, saying the warm weather “makes me feel happy for once.”
As winter fades and spring begins to take hold, the recent stretch of warm days shows how much the seasons can affect people’s moods. At Woodland Regional, the sunshine has not only brought nicer weather but also a noticeable boost in energy and positivity among students.
With more warm days likely ahead, many students are hoping the good weather — and the good moods that come with it — will stick around.
