Beyond Braun’s 100th Hit

Senior captain Caitlyn Braun sparked her passion for softball at just seven years old, pitching with her dad in the backyard, and has remained dedicated to the game ever since. That early introduction helped her develop both her skills and her love for the sport, shaping her into a dependable leader.

Her inspiration comes from those who have set the example before her, particularly her role model.

“My biggest softball role model is Woodland alumna Chloe Cervone because her attitude never wavered and she consistently showed up for everyone on the team,” said Braun. “She showed me what it looked like to be a good teammate.” That influence continues to shape how Braun approaches her own role on the team. Braun takes a team-focused approach to leadership. She values communication and believes every player deserves to feel supported and motivated while still maintaining the standards needed for success.

“My leadership style is aimed toward making everyone else feel heard while also implementing the expectations for the season,” Braun explained. “I find showing up for the team means a lot.”

Braun also carries a valuable perspective from her years in the program. If she could advise her younger self, it would center on appreciation and confidence.

“My piece of advice to my freshman self would be to celebrate the personal achievements more and to enjoy every moment as it goes by too fast,” Braun shared. Her reflection speaks to the importance of embracing both the big and small moments throughout the journey, much as her standout moment did when it mattered most.

“Getting my 100th hit during the NVL Championship,” said Braun, recalling her favorite high school softball memory. “I’ve never felt more proud of myself, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time.”
