Capobianco’s Team-First Mentality

After a breakthrough season that ended with an NVL championship, senior captain Gabby Capobianco is stepping into this year with confidence and purpose. She is determined to build on last season’s success while helping a younger team find its identity.

While last year’s team found success, Capobianco understands that this group has its own journey ahead. With a mix of mostly new and only some returning players, building trust and chemistry is at the top of her priority list.

Capobianco’s goals highlight her team-first mindset.
“My personal goal is to be the best player I can be and help the team succeed,” said Capobianco. “My goal for the team is to work together and trust each other.”

As a captain, Capobianco emphasizes creating a positive and balanced environment. She leads with energy and encouragement, while also recognizing when it’s time to lock in.
“My leadership style is creating a fun and supportive environment for my teammates while still knowing when it’s time to be focused and serious,” Capobianco explained.

Her leadership has been shaped by years of guidance from someone she considers a major influence: her hitting coach, Augustus “Gus” Constantino. After working with him for several years, Capobianco credits him for pushing her to improve and helping her reach her potential. His mentorship continues to impact how she approaches both the game and her role as a leader.

Despite her breakout success, Capobianco hasn’t forgotten the challenges she faced earlier in her high school career. If she could go back and talk to her freshman self, her message would be simple but powerful:

“Keep working hard and stop doubting yourself before you even try,” said Capobianco.
