Courageous. Driven. Bonded. This is how Kaylee Izokaitis, a senior team Captain, describes the Woodland Regional High School girls soccer team this 2026 fall season. 

Izokaitis is a determined person on and off the field; she dominates on defense while keeping the team’s spirits up. “…always be a bright person,” Izokaitis said, a lesson she’s learned from her 14 years of soccer experience. She stands for people being kind to one another and getting along with everybody no matter who they are. 

This season, Izokaitis looks forward to taking on Holy Cross in a competitive match. She will put her best effort in to hopefully get the win the team has worked so hard for.

Izokaitis’ favorite memory from all her years on the Woodland Girls Soccer team was playing with alumni Abby Bunk and Emma Bunk. Abby took Izokaitis in, while her sister Emma took responsibility for her when she was a freshman. The Bunks showed her what it means to be a leader on the team, and she plans to carry over their memory and use what she admired to become a leader herself. 

Izokaitis wants to be a captain because she feels that she knows how to lead and read the emotions of the team. If the team is down, she knows it, and Izokaitis works with them to bring the mood up and help them feel their best self.

 Izokiatis beamed with pride about her achievement and said, “…all the underclassmen can have somebody to look up to.” To her, being a captain isn’t becoming a person who leads exclusively on the field or a person with a band on her arm; it is about being a leader who builds trust, forms bonds, and sets the standard that every player wants to live up to.

 Izokaitis does it all. From letting players leave their bags in her car during practice to being that person everybody looks up to and strives to be. She is a prime example that being captain means so much more than being in a band.
