For senior Molly Mays, being a captain means so much more than the captain title. Mays wants the swim team environment to be safe and welcoming.
“ I´ll try to push the team to do the best we can. We’re gonna have a bit more competition this year, but I think thatś just a challenge for us to like face together, ” said Mays
Like most athletic teams, Woodland has traditions. The Woodland swim team has its own way.
“ My favorite memory would probably be just all the trips we took to get food every single meet. We just did a lot of team bonding stuff together, ” said Mays.
“ Another favorite- team bonding event is that we’ve been going to the beach in the past few years. But it is one of my most favorite memories from being on the Woodland Girls Swim Team, ”
Mays started her swimming career in middle school. “ I just kind of thought of it being fun and I tried it out, and I’d like to continue doing it in college, but we’ll see what opportunities come my way. ” said Mays
From Mays being a freshman on the swim team for the first time she knows what it’s like stepping on the block for the first time and Mays’s advice is “ Just give everything you have every single day. Push yourself the best you can. Push yourself at all swim meets. Every hour in the weight room, just always give it your best. ”
