Chasing Records

In a sport measured by fractions of a second, Eva Lynn knows that every moment counts. Whether she is shouting from the infield or hurdling over the competition, Lynn is always there for team spirit and encouragement.
No matter the day or tough practices, Lynn is always helping her teammates get stronger with words of encouragement.
“I try to help them ease their nerves and remind them it’s supposed to be fun,” said Lynn.
Starting as a freshman, Lynn found her niche in hurdles, improving her times each practice and especially when it counts. Track has been a large part of her life since then, teaching her life lessons she carries with her daily.
“Track has helped me to get out of my head and focus on what’s right in front of me,” stated Lynn.
Using this lesson, Lynn has found great success in this sport, allowing her to shine above everyone else she competes with.
“My proudest moment as an athlete was being in the top heats at the Naugatuck Valley League Championship and CT State Championships,” Lynn said.
Running the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles requires technical precision and endurance. For Lynn, the hurdles aren’t just obstacles; they are benchmarks of her progress.
“My goal this season is to break the 300 hurdle record for the school,” Lynn said. “I am only a few seconds away from this goal and hope to break it by the end of the season.”
Woodland Alumni Nicole Jones holds the record set in 2006 with a time of 47.40, while Lynn’s time is 49.11.
As her season winds down, Lynn’s goals aren’t just stopping in The Woods. Lynn will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
