Woodland Celebrates Kindess

Story by Trent Burkowsky

Every year, Woodland’s Hawk Wings holds its annual kindness week, where they have a different event every day. Hawk Wings member George Mudry says, “It’s a week where we all come together and be as kind as possible.”

Every day is a different activity. Monday is Random Acts of Kindness where people that are in Hawk Wings make a conscious effort to do random acts of kindness.

Tuesday features Friendship Bracelets after school in Hawk Wings while Wednesday is dedicated to Yoga with Hawk Wings.

Thursday is Ambassadors of Kindness where representatives from the middle school get recognized for their kindness, finally Friday is a Kindness Week Wrap-Up when the week gets reviewed and reflected and how everyone did. Also to celebrate on Friday a dog is coming into school for the students.

“I think it’s a good idea, it’s bringing a lot of people together in Hawk Wings and even out of it,” said Mudry.

Members of Hawk Wings all share the same reason for participating in Kindness Week. Member Allen Quason explains the reason for Kindness Week. “ It’s just the little things you do. Spreading positivity goes a long way, just by putting a smile on someone’s face will encourage others to do the same to someone else,” Quayson says.
