Hacky Sack Comeback

By: Connor Maklary

When you open your socials, you are guaranteed to see one thing: that thing is a hacky sack. Why are they making a comeback? The random comeback started in May of 2026 and she random comeback began in May of 2026 and has only grown in popularity since then. Back in the day, hacky sack had started to lose its popularity in the early 2000’s. It is popular all around the United States. You only need one person to play the game, but it is more fun with a group of friends to pass the sack.

The invention of the hacky sack was started in Oregon during the year of 1972 by the names of John Stalberger and Mike Marshall. Originally, it was not made to be a game. Marshall made this small, square box filled with rice to help rehabilitate John’s injured knee. In 1973, they improved the design by using round leather panels stitched together for greater durability and named it “Hacky Sack”.

” I think seeing it on social media gave me interest, ” said junior Charlie Napoleone. “I started playing it consistently once Jacob Trumbley brought a sack.”

“I started to play it when I saw it on TikTok, and now before the games we sack it up,” said senior Ben Pugliese.
